Position: Director of Worship 

  • Reports to:  Church Executive Administrator  
  • Position Status:  Full time
  • Works With:  Senior Pastor and staff
  • Supervises:  Music Director, Musicians, Media & Audio Leaders, Worship Arts Leaders & Volunteers, and Production Director
  • Compensation: $81,000 - $86,000 including Salary ($62,000 - $67,500) and Benefit package
  • Full Time Exempt 
 
The mission of the Director of Worship is to be the “producer” of worship services and special programs. Although the senior pastor is the “director” in terms of setting the theme and overall direction, the Director of Worship will oversee and coordinate all the details that a service encompasses. The director of worship must be a visionary who is creative in leading people into moments of worship and a lifestyle of worship. The director of worship is a leader who can create culture and communicate a direction in a way that inspires those around him/her to join in the pursuit of that vision. This position requires the individual to serve not solely as a musical or performing arts director but also as a spiritual leader in alignment with the mission, vision, core values, and core beliefs of St. Paul Baptist Church (SPBC). The individual for this role must have a proven history of guiding, directing, and nurturing a ministry team to foster its growth. While the position reports to the Church Executive Administrator, this person will partner closely with the lead pastor to execute the vision of worship for the church.

Primary Areas of Responsibilities :
  1. Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, fasting, confession, and fellowship.
  2. Spend time developing relationships with lost people to be personally effective in pursuing the Great Commission and helping the church to do the same.
  3. Build the necessary teams to carry out the worship areas of SPBC.
  4. Plan the corporate worship services of SP in consultation with the Senior Pastor and do so with prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and musical appropriateness. Ensure that all the musical and technical aspects of the service advance the theme for the day. Oversee song and choral selection, media preparation and presentation, sound and lighting enhancements, and coordination of all instrumentalists, vocalists, and dramatists.
  5. Provide direction for the implementation of all weekly activities and rehearsals necessary to facilitate worship in services.
  6. Provide spiritual guidance for the musicians, worship teams, and choirs.
  7. Develop and oversee all worship arts team leaders and members of various worship-related ministries.
  8. Introduce our musicians, worship teams, and choirs to worship training provided by other ministries, books, curriculums, and conferences.
  9. Plan major seasonal and/or outreach special events (Easter, Christmas, etc.)
  10. Find and plan other ways to use worship arts to reach out to the community evangelistically.
  11. Oversee the worship department budget and organizational structure.
  12. Build contacts and relationships with local, national, and international musicians, studios, and organizations for both evangelistic and staffing purposes.
  13. Set annual goals for the worship ministry that are in line with our vision and then evaluate how those goals were attained or modified during the year.

  • This leader must have a high commitment to personal growth and spiritual/emotional health.
  • This leader should show evidence of passion for praise and worship.
  • Must be able to use technology for ministry effectively. ie. Social Media, Website, YouTube, and Church Management Software.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Position: Technical Director

  • Reports to:  Church Executive Administrator 
  • Position Status:  Part-time Non-Exempt – 10 to 12 Hours per week (Sundays required)  
    $25-$30 per hour
 
Overview:
As the Church Technical Director, you will spearhead our audiovisual and production efforts to enhance worship experiences and ministry engagements. This role requires a deep commitment to our community's spiritual life, technical excellence, and leadership skills to guide and develop our volunteer teams.

Key Responsibilities :

(1) Team Leadership and Development: 
  • Lead the production volunteer teams, including onboarding, training, scheduling, and offboarding. Foster a supportive environment that nurtures their emotional well-being and commitment. 
  • Develop and lead teams responsible for audio mixing, camera operation, live video production, light programming, and stage management. 
  • Identify, recruit, and develop volunteers, ensuring effective training and integration into our ministry. 
 
(2) Production Management: 
  • Oversee AVL and stage production in the main sanctuary, including sound checks and worship services. 
  • Direct the setup, execution, and breakdown of A/V production for worship services and ministry events, ensuring technical excellence and seamless operations. 
  • Lead production at band rehearsals and ensure high-quality audio and video production, including multitrack audio production, white balancing, and color correction. 
 
(3) Quality Control and Innovation: 
  • Implement quality control processes to regularly assess and improve the audio and video quality of live streams and recorded content. 
  • Research and recommend new technologies and equipment to enhance production quality, including advanced audio and video technologies. 
  • Work closely with the creative team to develop visually engaging content, including sermon illustrations, announcements, and promotional videos. 
 
(4) Technical Operations and Maintenance: 
  • Steward resources effectively, managing the maintenance, inventory, and upgrading of tech equipment in line with the church’s vision and budget. 
  • Organize and maintain all AVL and tech storage rooms, manage inventory, and evaluate equipment condition. 
  • Ensure the church's network infrastructure supports high-quality streaming, manages bandwidth, optimizes internet speed, and implements backup solutions. 
 
(5) Post-Production and Content Management: 
  • Oversee post-production editing of recorded sermons and events, focusing on audio mastering, video editing, color grading, and sound balancing. 
  • Develop strategies for efficiently storing, managing, and distributing audio and video content and optimizing it for various platforms. 
 
(6) Analytics and Continuous Improvement: 
  • Utilize analytics tools to track the performance of live streams and recorded content, gathering feedback to identify areas for improvement. 
  • Proactively create and enforce checklists and processes to ensure a high-quality technical experience for all involved. 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in leading technical production in a church setting, with extensive knowledge of audio, lighting, projection, and video technologies.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop volunteer teams, with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Technical expertise in digital audio workstations, video editing software, and live streaming platforms.
  • Familiarity with advanced audio processing techniques, multi-camera setups, and professional-grade lighting systems.
  • Basic knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networking, server management, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Creative vision and innovation, with the ability to implement new production techniques.
  • A problem-solver with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.
  • Teachable, respectful, and able to thrive in a team-based environment.
